La Boca Arch, Dome Plateau, Moab, Utah, USA
Utah

La Boca arch lies just off the Dome Plateau Trail north and east of Arches National Park in Utah.  The arch cuts through sandstone of the the same upper Entrada formation exposed in the park to the south.  During the Jurassic period about 150 million years ago desert conditions stretched over a good part of Utah, piling light dune sand atop the darker red silt and mud from a previous wetter period.  Most of the arches of the area formed in the sandstone created from these dunes.
