彭園位在九份豎崎路旁，從九份派出所旁往上行走，很快就可看到。彭園原為台陽礦業有限公司第二員工俱樂部（昭和2年~民國37年，1927~1948年）。臺陽公司董事長顏欽賢先生有感於礦工常常因採礦而受傷或感染塵肺病，光復後遂將俱樂部於民國37年（1948年）改為礦工醫院，命名為台陽礦業附屬醫院，並聘請日本東北帝國大學醫學系畢業的彭慶火醫師來擔任院長。
