Named after the engineer that built it, Holland 1 was commissioned in 1901 and was the Royal Navy's first submarine. It sank in 1913 when under tow for scrapping. Raised in 1982 it has since been restored and is now on display at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum in Gosport.
