The Boobs installation by artist Allegra Pacheco tries to rescue a current position of feminism which has fallen into empty clichés, lost the value and the real intention of this movement. Tits and sex in general are a symbol often associated with the promiscuous, the porn, or ínfamo, or otherwise linked to the maternal-its antithesis. It tries to create a space between the two polarities, where these symbols retake a new reading linked to the playful, feminine and exploratory. Mainly trying to highlight a natural quality both animal and human, free of pre established stigmas or labels.
Much of the production of the work has been done thanks to the collaboration of women, particularly low-income immigrants, Carpio residents who work with the Costa Rican Humanitarian Foundation of Gail Nystrom. In the span of a month and a half, these women together with the artist, has produced the cooked breasts that form much of the installation. These organizations are remunerated with 100% of the proceeds from sales of this first exhibition, in thanks for their cooperation and to help them grow both professionally, as their needs and those of their families. The intention of the artist is to integrate women of various ages, education levels, social classes, nationalities and professions to integrate well in the art world.
