Setrrenburg is een van de vier bastions die rond 1550 gebouwd zijn door Willem van Noort in opdracht van Karel V, naar Italiaans voorbeeld als antwoord op het nieuwe gevaar van het verrijdbare kanon. Ze droegen de namen Zonnenburg, Manenburg, Sterrenburg en Morgenster. Dat laatste bastion aan de noordkant van de stad (Nieuwekade) bestaat niet meer.
