沙湖是我国北方荒漠半荒漠地区不可多得的自然生态综合体，共有水面895公顷沼泽地1837公顷，半流动荒漠沙丘1515公顷。湖水中芦草丛内栖息、繁衍的各种动物达140余种，其中鸟类近百种，总数在10万只以上。自1989年建立沙湖旅游区以来，开发出嘹塔览胜、苇荡迷津、湖面荡舟、碧湖垂钓、湖光沙色、水产展馆、江南水寨、回族风情园、西夏行宫、蒙古包等。此地湖水与长天一色，沙丘与兰山共姿。多年来，沙湖吸引了百万四海宾客，被誉为“塞上旅游明珠”。拍攝於：胡耀鳴2009年7月15日银川
