当年是长春大企业之一，隶属于机械局。长春拖拉机厂是58年开始筹备，60年成立的，建在了柴油机厂东侧， 荣光路与福安街交会处。大部分人员是由柴油机厂分过来的，后从九台招有300左右复员军人。64年由沈阳拖拉机厂调过来一个车间的人，举家搬迁到长春。经历了半个世纪的国营大企业 如今将不复存在了， 2006年宣布破产，但至今资金没到位，也属于破产工作还没结束，所以重组之类的工作还没进行。现在所有厂房闲置的闲置.出租的出租，因破产工作没结束一些职能部门及厂办人员还在上班，他们的工资就从出租厂房的租金中支付。
