该展览馆总建筑面积3000平方米，分为两层，每层1500平方米。一层共设“自然概况”、“和谐建设”、“历史沿革”、“特色文化”、“铁北改造”五个展区，主要展示宽城区的历史面貌、现实状况和文化渊源。二层分为“总体构想”、“重点项目”、“规划成果”三个展区，统称为“远景规划”展区，主要展示宽城区的远景规划和建设亮点。超大的拼屏电视、巨型的立体沙盘、巨幅的灯箱展板、先进的立体影院，是主要展示手段。

It is administered as a sub-provincial city with a population of about 7.5 million under its jurisdiction, including counties and county-level cities. The name originated from the Jurchen language.
