The Mary Stanford lifeboat house, Rye Harbour, Sussex. Scene of a dreadful tragedy in 1928 when all seventeen crew were lost after launching in an 80 mph gale to assist a ship in distress. The boat at that time was hand rowed with no motor and the worst part was that a recall maroon was fired just five minutes after they launched but they failed to see it in the bad weather. There is an appeal to raise funds to preserve this historic building - https://www.facebook.com/groups/703235884673950/
