Image captured 7/25/2015 during a 5 day trek through the heart of the southern Sierra Nevada in California. Lonely Lake was one of my favorite spots on this trip, indeed evoking a desire to jump into the frigid water to cool off and get closer to the pristine alpine environment we found ourselves in. The proceeding trip around the bowl at the headwaters of Buck Creek was also intensely scenic, looking out over the Great Western Divide and most of the terrain we had previously conquered.
