Prior to the completion of the Flaming Gorge Dam in 1969, Sheep Creek, joined by other minor tributaries, cut through a red rock canyon to join the Green River. Today, Sheep Creek empties into the flooded canyon, an arm of the Flaming Gorge Reservoir. There, the Sheep Creek marina serves as a launching point for exploring this region of the reservoir. Numerous boat-in camp sites exist along the shores and during the summer you will find camping, fishing, boating and other outdoor enthusiasts here in numbers.
