The Retiro park in Madrid is a remarkable green island in the middle of the huge city of Madrid. Originally being a park for the Spanish Monarchy it became publlic in the late 19th century. With 1.4 km² it is the largest park in Madrid and it became a main recreation area of the city. The park houses various Monuments like the one in this picture, fountains and lakes. It is great for walking, biking and oll other kinds of sports, but as well just for relaxing. A great place to visit.
