Bad Griesbach (officially: Bad Griesbach i.Rottal) is a town in the Lower Bavarian district of Passau. The resort is located in the Lower Bavarian spa triangle.
History:
A first documentary mention is the "Burggriesbach" around the year 1076. The town was the seat of a Pflegamts and belonged to Rentamt Landshut. He was totally destroyed by the Palatine troops in 1504, but soon afterwards rebuilt. 1778/79 Griesbach was occupied Austrian. Griesbach was part of the Electorate of Bavaria before 1806 and had a market court with a magistrate own rights. 1802 Griesbach seat of a District Court. The city survey Griesbach occurred on September 2, 1953. The Bavarian government reform introduced on 1 January 1972, the incorporation of the communities Karpfham, Reutern, St. Salvator and Weng. The loss of the district office on 1 July of the same year solved but forcibly from a change in the economic structure. After the discovery of the thermal springs of Bad Füssing successful wells were after thermal water in the years 1972-73 in the community part Schwaim for an orientation towards the spa industry.
