The statue of a malter with his shovel for represents the former brewing industry of Ware. Today the old Greene King Brewery is turned into very desirable residences. But the name survives in the Greene King Pub accross the road from the new housing developement. (That's what I've been told. But if it's wrong about Greene King please let me know and I will ammend this text)
