Although it is unknown at what time it was built, it is believed that the current structure dates back to the 17th century.

According to local tradition, the cult of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios dates back to the 12th century, a period in which an image of the Lady was found in a cave, where the primitive hermitage was carved in the rock. On this site, today stands the current temple. In it, tiles stand out, evoking some episodes of the life of Our Lady.

The place attracts large numbers of devotees to a religious festival that takes place annually in October.
