Iglesia de Veracruz - O Carballiño
Northern Spain

Designed by the famous architect Antonio Palacios Porriño, this church, known to locals as "new church," began its construction in the 40s. It is characterized by a mixture of architectural and sculptural styles. The plan of the temple is of great originality and complexity, highlighting two areas: a main floor that complements centered in the head with an apse with ambulatory and a second rectangular nave. Outside stands the large tower that hides the dome, beneath which lies the most defining space for the architect: the rotunda of the cruise, of large dimensions. In 1957 the works are completed, although years later to continue with unplanned changes in Palacios.
