静岡市中心部には徳川家康公にちなんだ銅像が三体ある。静岡駅前にある「竹千代像」、同じく静岡駅前にある「徳川家康公像(壮年期、五ヶ国領有期)」、駿府城公園内にある「徳川家康公像(大御所期)」。
しかし、この三体の銅像、特に駅前の二体については市民および観光客の認知度が低く、そのことが問題になっていた。
この銅像の観光への活用方法を議論する中で、静岡市は25日、路面シールを使った社会実験を開始した。駅前から中心街を通って駿府城公園へ行くルートを示し、市民や観光客に歴史資産を知ってもらうのが狙い。
路面シールは円形で直径3・6メートル。竹千代君像と家康公像の前、駅北口の地下道、駿府城公園の4カ所に貼った。
この社会実験は2014年5月11日まで行われる。
