Yiannis Koukourakis ([email protected]) was born in Athens, Greece. His acquaintance with photography came by working as assistance in an advertising studio. He first studied at the department of Photography, of the Technological Institute of Athens (TEI). Afterwards continued his studies on Fine Art Photography by following postgraduate studies in England, sponsored by the Hellenic Republic State Scholarships Foundation (IKY).
He works as a professional photographer since 1994, at the field of commercial photography, advertising and social events, also in collaboration with editions and advertising companies. From 2001 to 2005 he was teaching Photographic Applications, as a Laboratorial Collaborator, at the School of Photography of TEI Athens. From 2016 to 2018 the Photography School of Munisipality IEK of Chania.
In parallel with his professional activities he also creates his Art Photography projects. Since the ‘80s, he had participated in various exhibitions and art festivals in Greece and abroad, winning awards, like the Kodak European Awards in Arles 1991, and participations at the Biennale of Young Mediterranean Artists in Marseille and Cordoba.
Yiannis is mainly interested in themes that deal with people and their interaction with environment. Also he is fond with technical application in studio,darkroom,and 360VR applications. Since 2006 he lives and works in Chania, Crete, applying a variety of photographic services localy and worldwide, with professionalism and faithfulness to your creative needs.
