Just a couple hundred yards below Entrance Camp, and after negotiating Entrance Rapid, Santa Elena Canyon walls rise high above the river and surrounding foothills. As you look upriver just a bit you can see the beginning of Entrance Rapid. In the distance lies the high eroded pinnacle called The Sentinel. Follow Entrance Rapid as it hugs the cliff face on the Mexican side of the river. Entrance Rapid tails out into a large eddy on river left just as the final current of the rapid flows around the bend and into Santa Elena Canyon.
