Pavilion on the Schlossplatz in Stuttgart at Christmas time
Stuttgart

The music pavilion was erected between the New Palace and the Jubilee Column in 1871. For decades, it served as a shelter for the promenade musicians. Until 1918, they played in all weathers on Sundays during the guard parade. Things got dicey during the Nazi era when the building was to be melted down as a metal donation. The pavilion was spared this fate - thanks to Stuttgart. When the Schlossplatz was redesigned in 1977 as part of the Federal Garden Show, the pavilion's life was given a new lease of life. The iron dwarf was moved from its original location to the north side of the square.
