Buggerru in Southwest Sardinia once was a a rich zinc mining town with a rich Parisian cultural life for the elite and horrendous conditions for the poor miners. Finally, this resulted in 1904 into a strike that was brutally broken with deaths and was cause for the first national Italian strike.
