Sugar Pine Butte Ice Cave entrance
California

A view at the entrance of Sugar Pine Butte Ice Cave near McCloud, California, most likely formed from an ancient eruption of Mt. Shasta.  The cave is a series of three collapse pits w/ minimal connection however this is the main entrance w/ a short passage about 200 feet in length, mostly all stooping and crawling on sandy floors.  There was a few ice stalagmites inside w/ probably more during the spring season.  An old wooden sturdy ladder leads down to access through this tiny opening.  These caves have been known as ice caves since before 1935.
