The Nevada State Capitol Building - built in 1870. Nevada was declared a territory in 1858 and became a state during the civil war in 1864. One of Nevada's nicknames is "battle born", and the words appear on the state flag. Nevada is also known as the "silver state" for its long mining history, as well as "the sagebrush state" for obvious reasons.
