Milan: Arco della Pace - Peace Arch
Milan

This monument is one of the major neo-classical monuments in Milan. Started in 1807 by Luigi Cagnola to celebrate Napoleon Bonaparte, the Arch was in fact completed after his defeat. It was inaugurated in 1838 for the coronation of Ferdinand 1st of Austria as ruler of Lombardo Veneto kingdom. Upon the Italian unification in 1861 it was the site of the triumphal entrance in Milan of Vittorio Emanuele 2nd, the first king of Italy. The Arco della Pace is not far from Castello Sforzesco that can be seen in the distance thru the beautiful park, opposite to the opening view of the 360 photo.
