La chiesa ha una pianta eptagonale ed è formata da 7 torri principali alle quali si aggiungono i corpi più bassi delle cappelle che fungono anche da lucernari. All'interno il soffitto è a forma piramidale. Sulla parete dell'abside è stato riprodotto il volto di Cristo.Il progetto dell'architetto Mario Botta ha mantenuto la vecchia ciminiera delle acciaierie avvolta da una spirale d'acciaio.
