Colby Pass was an unplanned but happy detour during a 5-day trip in California's Sierra Nevada mountains. Deep in the heart of the range, this trailed pass is infrequently travelled, indeed we had the approach and descent all to ourselves until we reached Big Wet Meadow several miles below. The views back toward the Kaweahs to the south and Kings Canyon National Park to the north were well worth the work in approaching this high pass.
