View from the summit of Whisky Butte (elev. 6,888') in the Marble Mountains just outside of Etna, California.  The peak is just out from the core of the range & has numerous sculpted granite outcroppings.  Views here of the Scott Valley below, as well as Duzel Rock to the east, Mount Shasta, Mount Eddy, Etna Mountain to the south, Sawyers Bar Road leading up to Etna Summit, & various unnamed snowy peaks to the west & north towards Boulder Peak.  I was hoping to take a gigapixel from here but it was a relentless 50mph wind gust that made conditions miserable w/ no shelter except on the thick snowy side.  The entire region was breezy with wind from the southwest as a small evening storm was set to roll in.  There is a road that leads to a receiver just below the summit to the east however it would not have been a good ascent option this time of year.
