Giant Crater lava tube system (aerial)

This 400' aerial view overlooks Forest Route 49 passing across the Giant Crater lava tube system south of Medicine Lake, California.  Giant Crater is nearly ten miles to the north & this lava tube system can be traced aerially for nearly 18 miles.  It contains plenty of collapse breakdown pits, cave entrances, bridges, & ice caves.  Features like this are also found on the moon.  The lava flow is grown over by vegetation, but is less wooded compared to higher elevated hillsides.
