St. Olaf's Church, Tallinn

St. Olaf's Church is dedicated to King Olaf II of Norway (995-1030), also known as Saint Olaf. For around 76 years, between 1549 and 1625 it was reputed to be the world's tallest building.

Based on a 13th century plan, the Old Town in Tallinn is one of the best preserved medieval cities in Northern Europe. Still largely intact, it maintains a number of Gothic spires, merchant houses, barns and warehouses, and winding cobblestone streets.

It was granted UNESCO World Heritage Site status in 1997.
