This is the second pond we came across while exploring the bottom of the Lost Canyon (Cañon de Los Perdidos) in the Peruvian coastal desert of Nazca. Given that this is one of the driest places on our planet, it was surprising to find such shallow ponds, after following the dry riverbed of the Rio Seco. We are close to the northern end of the canyon, which is the most beautiful and most spectacular part, between tall golden curved rocky walls.
