Im dritten Jahr der archäologischen Ausgrabungen auf dem Hügel von Oymaagac scheint es sich zu bestätigen, dass es sich hier tatsächlich um den hethitischen Kultort Nerik handelt. Im 2. Jahrtausend vor Chr. beherrschten die Hethiter ein Gebiet das von der westlichen Türkei bis an die Grenzen Ägyptens reichte.
