The modern village of Gokyurt is built on the remains of the historic Kilistra. This is one of the first villages, where the early Christians were hiding from the Romans. In the village you can find some spolia in the walls and in the surrounding valleys there are lots of caves with churches and chapels like this one. The square in front of the cave church is used to play football.
