Early visitors walked out on a rocky promontory here for an inspiring view of Lower Yellowstone Falls, the canyon, and the river. On my first visit to Yellowstone a concrete walkway had been built and the old viewpoint fenced off and crumbling. Now it looks like another retreat may be necessary, and neither the falls nor the river can be seen.
