The Cozumel island's only town is San Miguel whose, as most traditional Mexican towns, civic life is centered at the open square called the "Plaza del Sol". It translates as "the city square of the Sun". The latter is surrounded by gift shops and restaurants with breezy ocean views, a nice park gazebo, a watchtower and a church. The area starts to "sparkle" in the evenings. The people coming to the plaza mix and mingle, listen to live music and dance.
