Emsland - Grafschaft Bentheim

Sögel is most famous for Clemenswerth Palace, a hunting lodge built 1737- 1749 by Johann Conrad Schlaun for Elector Clemens August. Sögel is a municipality in the Emsland district, in Lower Saxony, Germany.

Emsland is the name of a region on the river Ems in the western Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia in the north and east of the Netherlands. It is divided into the so-called Emsland Hanover and Westphalia.Since then, a district in Lower Saxony, was founded with that name, are often referred to as a term landscape and community in one breath and confused. Only the reference to the landscape Emsland (land through which the river Ems), the speaker clearly the difference. The Emsland district in the north of East Friesland is bordered on the east to the Oldenburger Münsterland and the Osnabrück Nordland, in the west to the Netherlands and the historic county of Bentheim and Steinfurt district in the south to the Münsterland / North Rhine-Westphalia.
