铁人三项项目举行地十三陵水库可以说是奥运会最贴近大自然的场馆。十三陵水库属于北运河水系，位于温榆河北支东沙河上旅，毗邻著名的十三陵景区。水库周边环境风景秀丽，植被覆盖率达到50%以上，2001年9月被评为国家级旅游风景区。库区水面302万平方米，水质为二类，符合比赛条件。2005年和2006年，这里连续成功举办了两届铁人三项世界杯赛，被参赛运动员誉为为世界最好的铁人赛场之一.
