A view of the interior of the Main Hut at Cape Denison, Commonwealth Bay, Antarctica.

This was the principal building used during the 1911-14 Australasian Antarctic Expeditio, led by Douglas Mawson.

18 Men lived and worked in the hut during 1912-13, 8 remained during 1913-1914 after the return of Mawson from his sledging voyage with Xavier Mertz and B.E.S. Ninnis - both of whom died. Mawson barely survived.

The buildings at Cape Denison are a historic site being conserved by the Mawson's Huts Foundation and Australian Antarctic Division.
