Underneath Avro Vulcan XJ824
England

Once this mighty bomb bay would have been filled with a "Blue Steel" nuclear missile crusing at upto 17,000m but now it stands open and empty for all to see. The Avro Vulcan is a 30m wide jet-powered delta wing strategic bomber that formed part of the V-Force bomber fleet that was made up of the Valiant, Vulcan and Victor aircraft. It formed the backbone of the UK's nuclear airborne deterant during the cold war.

After they were taken out of service many were taken into museums and put on display like XJ824 here at Duxford. Out of all of these there are two which are in taxiable condition (XL426 and XM655) and one which is currently airworthy (XH558 - "The Spirit of Great Britian") and is used for display flights and airshows, a sight and sound worth experiencing for yourself.
