Mainbernheim - Lower Gate (Herrnstraße)
Franconie

Mainbernheim, first mentioned in the year 889, is a small town in Franconia with a medieval character. In the old town, surrounded by a city wall ring with 18 towers and 2 city gates, you can still feel the typical Franconian mixture of fortified civic pride and small town cosiness. The Lower Gate, for example, was built around 1400. The drawbridge and a portcullis protected the city.
