The oldest city in the Ivanovo area. Jurevts it is based in 1225 by the Vladimir prince Jury II as Jurev-Povolsky. In 1237 has been destroyed by army Batyja. For city merits before the country Catherine II has welcomed Jurevets the nominal arms: in spite of the fact that it not the provincial centre, on a heraldic board is only a city symbol, without the provincial arms.
