Earthwork defences at Rough Castle Roman Fort, Nr. Falkirk
Scotland

Rough Castle Roman Fort is the best preserved of 19 forts along the Antonine Wall. Named after the Emperor Antoninus Pius, the defensive line was built across Scotland’s central belt in 142 AD and marked the most north-westerly frontier of the former Roman Empire.
