Looking south and down the Church Fork of Millcreek Canyon, we are looking back in time from (relatively) newer rocks at our backs to older rocks down below. The red of the nugget sandstone and Ankareh formation behind us stands out against the green of the nearby gambel oak and mountain mahogany and the aspen and evergreens in the distance. The same nugget sandstone crops out again to the north, part of Red Butte, above the University of Utah. A layer of the older Thayne's formation is visible in the lower Church Fork, threading its way from east to west across the fork.
From here we can see from right to left, west to east, Grandeur Peak, a bit of Mount Olympus, Mount Raymond and Gobbler's Knob.
