Bernera Bridge Stone Circle, Great Bernera
Scotland

This group of four standing stones is better known as Callanish VIII. They are unusually located at the edge of cliff, facing the strait that divides Great Bernera from the Isle of Lewis.

The site overlooks a bridge with its own engineering claim to fame. The so-called 'Bridge over the Atlantic', was built in 1953. It was the first fixed link in Europe to be constructed of pre-stressed concrete girders.
