Prince Consort Albert was the husband of Queen Victoria. In 1865, four years after Albert's early death, Queen Victoria had this memorial erected on the market place of Albert's birthplace Coburg. There are two more copies of the same statues, cast from the same mold. One stands in Grimsy, Scotland, the other in Sydney.
