El conjunto arquitectónico del siglo 18 fue construido (aunque no terminado), siguiendo el orden de la emperatriz Catherine II) en el pseudo-estilo gótico, después de los proyectos de los arquitectos Bazhenov y Kazakov, y es el único conjunto arquitectónico del siglo 18 de tales dimensiones en Rusia.

Alrededor del palacio, en el parque hay una serie de pabellones, pérgolas, glorietas, grutas artificiales, puentes decorativos (siglo 19, el arquitecto I. Yegotov), un templo ortodoxo ruso "Fuente de Vida", así como un centro recreativo moderno con un restaurante.

Durante mucho tiempo la mayoría de los edificios estabieron en ruinas (y los alpinistas los utilizaban como entrenamiento). Recientemente la mayoría de los edificios han sido "completados": tejados, interiores y las decoraciones se han añadido y su apariencia histórica ha sido alterada. Los edificios alojan el museo ruso de folk y artes aplicadas. El atrio de la "Casa del pan" es usado para conciertos de músicos de Moscú.
