This is the starting line of a northern Nevada motorcycle desert race. 300 racers straddle their front fenders with their engines shut off. With the blast of a shotgun, they hop to their seats, start their bikes and are off for a grueling three to four hour event. They will stop once or twice for fuel. This race is one of about twelve per year in the wide open desert of Northern Nevada. The organizing clubs are The Dirt Squirts and the Motorcycle Racing Association of Northern Nevada.
