Spa "Palanački kiseljak" is a spa with a spring of mineral water, in the southeastern part of Smederevska Palanka, Serbia. It is located in a 5-hectare park at an altitude of 103 meters. The springs of mineral water were still used by the Romans, and the first preserved description of the spa is the Travelogue from 1719, where the Turkish travel writer Evlija Celebija describes the Palanački kiseljak as a "walled spa with medicinal water". In 1834, the medicinal properties of mineral water were confirmed in Vienna. Spa water belongs to the category of sodium-hydro carbonate, carbonic acid hypothermia (12.5-15°C) and hyperthermia (32-56°C). It is used in balneology for drinking and bathing and as table water. In 1896, the renovation of the spa as a health resort began. In the same year, the state gave the springs for the management and use of the Red Cross organization, with the aim of treating soldiers and officers who were sick during the war. The Spa was in that function until the Second World War. There are four sources of mineral water, temperature 56°C. The spa complex also includes the Stefan Visoki General Hospital, where rheumatic diseases, post-rheumatic and postoperative conditions, sterility, deformities in children and adults, neurological diseases of peripheral disability, chronic compensated diseases of internal organs are successfully treated with healing water and other treatments. Therapy includes: hydrotherapy, underwater and manual massage, electrotherapy and phototherapy. Patients have at their disposal swimming pools with medicinal water, Hibard bathtubs, stainless steel baths, saunas, rooms for various types of electro, photo, thermo, kinesi and occupational therapy.
