The post-war Lekbrug is a familiar sight in the landscape and was crucial as north-south link in the A2. The ever increasing traffic however made the bridge a bottleneck causing daily traffic jams. The bridge was therefore replaced by two new spans (Jan Blankenbrug, respectively 1999 and 2006). Although there are voices to preserve the bridge as industrial heritage, probably the characteristic bridge will be demolished in 2011.
