The Chaves Baths, open to the public since 1899, are located in full marginal gardens of the (Tabolado) next to the Tâmega river and the area of the old medieval city. Its waters of volcanic origin spring from the bowels of the valley, crossing several magmatic layers, ending at the surface with unique characteristics and composition.

The waters have a centuries-old tradition of healing musculoskeletal, digestive and respiratory disorders.
