The White Rocks formation is a mass of granite exposed to the surface at the eastern edge of the Cedar Mountain Wilderness area in Utah. This wilderness area (not to be confused with the Cedar Mountain Recreation area in the San Rafael Swell) is located south of interstate 80 on the western side of Skull Valley. Few roads approach the wilderness area and motorized traffic is prohibited within it. However, the 8 mile gravel access road to White Rocks will take you to the edge and the sight of the old lichen covered granite is worth the trip. Be aware that this road can become impassable during and after wet weather, rain or snow.
